| Product description and indications | SIOBAL silicone oil is a viscous, transparent, homogenous, sterile and non-pyrogenic liquid. It is used as a long-term tamponade medium in vitreoretinal surgeries. It is indicated in adult patients who require ophthalmic surgery particular in cases of: - Retinal detachment with giant retinal tear - Retinal detachments associated with retinoschisis - Retinal detachments with vitreoretinal proliferation (VRP) - Retinal detachment due to macular hole in degenerative myopia or failure of hole closure in previous surgeries - Retinal detachment associated with massive choroidal detachment - Retinal detachment in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) - Traumatic retinal detachments or penetrating trauma - Certain perforating traumas with intraocular foreign bodies - Chronic ocular hypotony - Endophtalmitis (infection can lead to retinal detachment) - Endooocular tumor surgery - Subretinal surgery - Viral retinitis - Preferable use of this product due to the patient´s conditions in the immediate postoperative period (difficulty in the head positioning or need to take a flight) |
